Maybe I deserve a rest?

I mean, just finished chapter 7, which makes my WIP around 36k words long. Not really on the mood for editing right now, and a bit drained from I dunno how many days of writing or editing every bloody day (oh yeah, since July 10th and the last pause was because I was in a trip).

I know very well what's the big event of Chapter 8 - (a spoiler that isn't) PEOPLE FUCK - but dunno about... the rest of the chapter, really. It's the last one who gets strictly 1 day per chapter, since I'll be free of showing the timetable. Of course, there are hooks for next chapters, I can get back into the Hawthorne family drama that's only hinted at and Minato's special council position, but I have that feel of "well, it's the end of a story arc, what else?" even if there's lots of development for our lovable dumb jock William even after the ch7 revelations.

"Write the weekend in ch9!" YES, I WILL, IT MEANS MINATO OUT OF UNIFORM, I KNOW HOW YOU GUYS LOVE HIS OUTFITS EVEN IF VAGUELY DESCRIBED, but what I want is stuff for ch8 :P

There's the Literature/Prose class, which is planned to make Minato all starry eyed over Maian erotica, and the partnered dance class. Friday's meant to be a more "romantic" day, and yes, the Venus / Angel of Love correspondences ARE a thing.

but aygsdashjfbhbasdf slice of life is nice and all but the end of an arc is not good for THINGS EXPLODING, not on this fic, it's MEANT to evoke the feeling of reading 1970s shounen-ai or very mellow, very aesthetic boarding school shoujo. It's very much BL with yuri tropes!

I'm still impressed with your dedication to working on the story every day! (I don't think I could edit every day, though, nope.)

I'm one of those people who NEED to build the habit of writing, or else my hiatus spans almost a decade!

I talked to a friend (who's one of my sounding boards / alpha readers for this story) and she also thinks I deserve a break.

For now, I'll get back to Sims 3 for a while - but not divorcing completely from MayoDan - I NEED to take decent character pictures to put on Sims FFA threads, twitter, discord, etc, not just for icons but because there are friends who want to draw them :3 ♥

p.s. editing will be HELL, though. Not the SPAG - the latest GDocs update now offers better help, but the difficult part: cleaning the prose, etc. I really need a dedicated beta!

I should try at least 100 words a day or something on some of my long-lingering WiPs. Even if they do not turn out amazing, they should at least turn out done?

Ah, I haven't had a dedicated beta in like fifteen years and I'd do anything to actually have one. Even for things like 'You know he's gone out the same door three times, five paragraphs apart?'

Correction: I do have a beta, but he's slooooooow and hardly available :P He's essential to me, though - ESL woes and all that.

Believe me, the 100 words a day task does wonders. Even if it's a difficult day and you believe your writing sucks balls, rereading it on the next day with a fresher mind shows you that it's not really bad!

My new rule for myself is to finish things before posting. So... if it's 500 words or 50,000... story is done before posting. Even if I think it's crap, letting it sit for a couple weeks (well, for longer stuff) generally proves that sure, it may need an edit and shine but it's not actually dogshit.

But yeah, "gotta be done" is necessary after my string of unfinished WiPs that I keep promising myself to get back to. ^^;; Someday!

For MayoDan, it'll be impossible to only post it when complete - with 7 chapters and 36k, and the FIRST ARC probably finished around the 42k mark, there's no doubt it'll be long, very long, so the best I can do is to have a large buffer between chapters posted vs. chapters written.

besides, I want to release chapter 1 to AO3 before August 10th - my 30th birthday! :P

*nods* Sounds like having a good buffer is working for you. (I couldn't do it, alas. Not at the moment anyway.) Any idea how long you think the whole thing will be?

Not by word count, but by specific character arcs, it's Intro (done) - William Arc (almost done) - Victor arc - Character 1 Arc - Character 2 Arc - Character 3 Arc - Conclusion, with the Hawthorne family situation being the overarching plot.

Of the numbered characters, only one isn't shown on the narrative until the end of chapter 7 :P
